Spider-Man: Brand New Day sets domestic pace, hits $1.67 billion globally

Spider-Man: Brand New Day earned $144.5 million in its second weekend, reaching $1.67 billion globally in 10 days and putting it on pace to be among the biggest blockbusters ever. Domestically, it has grossed $655.1 million, the fastest any film has reached that total. Its second weekend nearly topped the all-time record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey also crossed $1 billion worldwide, becoming his biggest hit. Hollywood is enjoying its best box-office year since the pandemic, with five $1 billion films so far. Summer revenue is approaching $4 billion. Meanwhile, new comedies opened with weak results.
