Sperm donor's genetic mutation increases cancer risk in over 200 children across Europe

A sperm donor is linked to over 200 children, some of whom have developed cancer due to a genetic mutation. The donor, who provided sperm across 14 European countries from 2005 to 2022, unknowingly passed on a TP53 gene mutation. This mutation is associated with Li-Fraumeni syndrome, significantly increasing cancer risk. Investigations are ongoing to identify all affected children, with current findings revealing at least 23 with the mutation and around 10 diagnosed with cancer, some fatally.
