Spanish retirees can claim a monthly pension supplement for having children

Spanish retirees may be missing out on a monthly pension supplement of up to 140 euros. This benefit, designed to address the gender pay gap, is available to those who had children. The "gender gap reduction supplement" was introduced in 2021 and provides 35.90 euros per child, up to a maximum of four children. It is added to contributory pensions for retirement, widowhood, or permanent disability. This supplement can be requested when applying for a pension or later through the Social Security's electronic portal or in person. Many eligible pensioners are reportedly unaware of this additional income.
