Spanish police treat Ames hit-and-run as murder after deliberate ramming

Spanish police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run in Ames as murder, citing treachery, after the driver allegedly ran over a man deliberately following a dispute. Just after midnight Wednesday, the two men, both about 30 and known to each other, argued in Bertamiráns. The suspect then accelerated into the victim as he crossed a pedestrian crossing, then fled. The victim died hours later in hospital. The Guardia Civil cited alevosía, or treachery, to elevate the charge from intentional homicide to murder. The suspect, from Lugo, was arrested Wednesday afternoon. The case has been sent to court for further investigation.
