Spain's Supreme Court rules Triana founder lacks rights to band name and songs

Spain's Supreme Court has ruled that Eduardo Rodríguez Rodway, the only surviving founding member of the band Triana, owns neither the group's songs nor rights to its name. The court dismissed his appeal, confirmed two earlier rulings, and ordered him to pay costs. Drummer Juan José "Tele" Palacios registered the Triana trademark; his heirs authorized current singer Juan Reina to use it. Rodway failed to prove he authored the songs. Triana formed in Seville in 1974, blending flamenco and progressive rock. Vocalist Jesús de la Rosa died in 1983. Rodway faced a 2022 Supreme Court case over social media posts. The ruling is final.
