South Korean satellite's before-and-after images reveal Moon crater from SpaceX rocket

South Korean satellite captured first images of fresh lunar impact site created by a stray SpaceX rocket stage, revealing noticeably darker terrain. The Danuri spacecraft made multiple passes over the crash site Wednesday after the Falcon 9 upper stage struck the Moon at about 4:35pm AEST, carving a crater and ejecting dust and rock. The Korea Aerospace Research Institute released before-and-after images. NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter is expected to fly over the site next week. The rocket stage hit at 8,700 km/h after solar activity and gravity altered its path, SpaceX said.
