Satellite images reveal the impact site of a rocket part on the moon, showing a new crater and scattered debris, according to South Korea's KARI space institute. The object was a SpaceX Falcon 9 upper stage that carried two private lunar landers 18 months ago. It strayed off course, drifted toward the moon, and struck on Wednesday. KARI's satellite flew over the site repeatedly, photographing it before and after impact, and the agency published the images online.
