South Korean satellite captures first images of SpaceX rocket's lunar impact

South Korea's Danuri spacecraft captured the first images of the moon's crash site after a stray SpaceX rocket stage impacted, showing a darkened crater. Danuri flew over the impact site multiple times after the Falcon 9 upper stage inadvertently struck the moon Wednesday. The Korea Aerospace Research Institute released the images Thursday. Officials said the terrain is noticeably darker where the rocket carved out a crater and scattered debris. NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter will view the aftermath next week. SpaceX launched Danuri in 2022 and said the upper stage, from a lunar landers mission, hit at 5,400 mph due to solar activity and gravity.
