South Korean satellite captures before and after views of SpaceX rocket's moon crash

A South Korean satellite captured the first before-and-after images of the crater left by a stray SpaceX rocket that crashed into the moon Wednesday. The Korea Aerospace Research Institute's Danuri spacecraft made multiple passes and released photos Thursday showing darker terrain and a crater with scattered debris. The upper stage hit at 5,400 mph. NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter is expected to survey the site next week. SpaceX launched Danuri in 2022 and sent two private lunar landers last year. The crashed upper stage came from that launch, thrown off course by solar activity and gravity.
