South Korean satellite captures before-and-after images of SpaceX rocket crash on Moon

A South Korean satellite captured the first images of the lunar impact site caused by an out-of-control SpaceX rocket stage that crashed into the Moon on Wednesday. The Danuri spacecraft from Korea Aerospace Research Institute flew over the site, taking before-and-after photos that show a darker terrain, a crater, and scattered dust and rocks. The images were released Thursday. NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter will observe the site next week. SpaceX launched Danuri in 2022; the rocket body, from last year's private lunar lander mission, struck at 8,700 km/h due to solar activity and gravity.
