South Carolina hunter charged in fatal shooting of woman he mistook for deer

A South Carolina hunter, Kristofer Kelle McDonald, is accused of fatally shooting Lori Wind, 54, while illegally hunting at night on October 29. He mistook her for a deer near the Sawmill Branch Walking Trail. Wind's husband was also shot multiple times and is in critical condition. McDonald allegedly fired three rounds from his shotgun, violating state laws that prohibit night hunting and require a safe distance from homes. McDonald turned himself in the following day after seeing news reports. He faces multiple charges, including involuntary manslaughter, and was released on a $400,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court in December.
