eurogamer.net

Sony has introduced controller-free hand tracking for PlayStation VR2, showcased at the Siggraph Asia 2024 conference in Tokyo. Users can interact with a cleaning mini-game using hand gestures, eliminating the need for controllers. The new feature tracks hand position and posture at a rate of 60 frames per second, allowing for smooth display and low latency. It can recognize 12 different gestures, enhancing user interaction. Previously, PS VR2 lacked hand tracking, a feature already standard in other VR headsets like Quest 2 and 3. Sony has not yet provided further details on the future of this technology for PS VR2.
