Sony unveils Alpha 1 II flagship mirrorless camera with enhanced features
Sony has launched the Alpha 1 II, the second generation of its flagship mirrorless camera. This new model retains the 50.1MP full-frame sensor from the original but adds an AI processing unit for improved autofocus, now capable of detecting various subjects, including animals and vehicles. The Alpha 1 II features enhanced in-body image stabilization, rated for 8.5 stops, and introduces a pre-capture mode to capture moments just before the shutter is pressed. The display now rotates fully on four axes, and the camera body includes a better grip and more shortcut buttons. Connectivity has been upgraded with Ethernet now at 2.5Gbps, and the new charger can charge two batteries simultaneously. The Alpha 1 II is priced at $6,500 and will be available in December 2024.
