Sony expands PS5 storage options to 8TB with new SSD recommendations
Sony's PlayStation 5 now allows users to expand storage up to 8TB, following a software update in July 2023. This change addresses the limited internal storage of the original PS5, which has only 667GB available for games. Several SSD options are recommended for the PS5, including the Corsair MP600 Pro LPX, which offers high performance and a built-in heatsink. The Crucial T500 is noted as a budget-friendly choice, while the Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus features a unique heatsink design. External SSDs, like the Samsung T7, can store PS4 games and PS5 titles but cannot run PS5 games directly. Compatibility requires an M.2 NVMe SSD that meets specific speed and cooling requirements, with Gen4 models being the most cost-effective choice.
