Solvay to double Taiwan chip peroxide capacity, targets tripling electronics business

moneycontrol.com

Belgian chemicals group Solvay will more than double its ultra-pure hydrogen peroxide capacity in Taiwan by end of 2026 to meet demand from the island's semiconductor makers. The expansion at its Tainan joint venture will raise annual capacity above 70,000 tonnes from 35,000 tonnes, driven by AI-fueled chip demand and TSMC's new 3-nanometer fab. The chemical cleans wafers, with contamination control critical at advanced nodes. Solvay aims to at least triple its electronics peroxide business within five to seven years, after the unit comprised 15% of total peroxides in 2025. It is also investing in Germany and preparing for U.S. opportunities.
