Solar fences to protect wildlife launched in Chalakudy

The government has launched a project to install solar-powered hanging fences in Chalakudy to protect wildlife. The initiative, costing ₹2.24 crore, will cover 18 kilometers along the Chalakudy River. This project is a collaboration between the Forest and Wildlife department and NABARD. It marks the first extensive use of solar hanging fences in Kerala, with plans for 80 kilometers across the Chalakudy-Vazhachal divisions. Minister A.K. Saseedaran emphasized the importance of projects that promote water conservation in forests. The inauguration took place at the Arurmuzhi Community Hall, attended by local MLA Sanish Kumar Joseph.
