Social Security announces 2.5% COLA increase for SSDI and SSI payments in 2025

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will see a 2.5% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) in 2025. This increase will begin with payments in late December and January. For SSDI recipients, the average monthly benefit will rise by about $38, bringing it to approximately $1,580. Payments will be issued based on the recipient's birthday, starting January 8, 2025. SSI beneficiaries will also receive adjusted payments, with increases of $20 for those under 18, $18 for ages 18-64, and $14 for seniors. The first adjusted SSI payment will be sent on December 31, 2024.
