Social isolation increases cancer risk, especially for women in the UK

dailymail.co.uk

Social isolation is linked to an increased risk of developing cancer, particularly in women, according to new research. The study of over 35,000 UK adults found that socially isolated individuals had an 8% higher cancer risk. Women with little social contact showed a higher risk for breast, lung, womb, ovarian, and stomach cancers. Loneliness alone did not significantly impact overall cancer risk, though it was associated with a decreased risk in younger individuals and those employed.
