SNP candidacy battle in Edinburgh North Eastern and Leith
A former SNP minister is preparing for a competitive selection process in Edinburgh. Adam Nols-McVey, who once led the Edinburgh Council, aims to represent the constituency of Edinburgh North Eastern and Leith in the Scottish Parliament elections next year. This decision follows the announcement by Ben Macpherson, the current MSP for Edinburgh Northern and Leith, that he also intends to seek the same seat. In his statement, Nols-McVey expressed gratitude for the support he has received from party members. He highlighted his long history of representing the area and his commitment to key local issues like housing and transport. He believes that his experience will help the SNP make positive changes for residents. Nols-McVey also emphasized his strong support for Scottish independence, urging the party to work harder to gain more supporters. Ben Macpherson explained the need for the move due to boundary changes caused by population growth. He hopes to continue serving local residents and contributing to Scotland's independence efforts. Macpherson has a background in various ministerial roles and has been viewed as a potential candidate for future government positions. Additionally, another SNP activist, Andrew Ewen, has entered the race for the same constituency. Local party members will soon have the opportunity to choose their candidate.
