MIT engineers developed a programmable smart patch that regenerates heart tissue after a heart attack, reducing damage by half. The flexible hydrogel patch releases drugs sequentially to mimic natural healing, significantly decreasing necrotic tissue and improving heart function in rat tests. This biocompatible technology, showing promise for clinical application, could also be adapted for other regenerative medicine needs.
