Slovenia's Parliament Speaker Zoran Stevanović has pledged to hold a referendum on leaving NATO, a promise previously made by Prime Minister Robert Golob. The referendum was initially proposed by Golob in response to a parliamentary vote for a separate referendum on increasing defense spending to three percent of GDP. Neither referendum was ultimately approved by parliament last year, but Stevanović has now reopened the discussion on the non-binding NATO exit vote.
