Slovakia condemns Russian strike on Kyiv near its embassy, summons ambassador

Slovakia has strongly condemned Russia's September 4 drone strike on the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) building in Kyiv, citing its proximity to the Slovak embassy's consular section, and has summoned the Russian ambassador for explanations. Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar stated Bratislava "resolutely condemns" the attack because the SBU building is located near the consular department, though he noted no one was present there at the time due to limited use for security reasons. He called on Russia to avoid actions threatening civilians and also urged Ukraine to prevent further escalation, saying he had ordered the Russian ambassador to be summoned. The strike hit the office of SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad, with President Zelensky tasking him to respond "adequately and mirror-like." Ukrainian officials claim the drone was guided by a Russian agent nearby, while many Slovak social media users criticized Blanar's response as unfairly balanced.
