Six Brazil medical programs earned top Ministry score

Only six medical schools in Brazil received the highest possible score from the Ministry of Education's (MEC) quality indicator in 2023. This evaluation considered factors like student performance and teaching resources. The Conceito Preliminar de Curso (CPC) assessed 309 medical programs, with the top score achieved by five private non-profit institutions and one state-funded school. Five of the top-rated schools are located in São Paulo, and one is in Minas Gerais. The CPC uses student performance, learning progress, and resources to evaluate programs. The Enade exam, a component of the CPC, has faced criticism, and the number of private medical schools has increased in recent years.
