Singapore to Sound Public Warning System Siren on Sept 15

Singapore will sound the 'Important Message' signal through its islandwide Public Warning System for one minute on Sept 15 at 6.20pm, alerting the public to tune into local radio or TV for a Total Defence message. The signal will also reach smartphones with the SGSecure app enabled, lasting 20 seconds with a text notification, while Singtel network users will receive an SG Alert. The annual exercise aims to familiarize the public with warning signals and appropriate responses. The Public Warning System covers air, land, sea, natural, and man-made disasters. It typically sounds on Total Defence Day, Feb 15, and Sept 15, though a one-off change in 2026 moved it to Feb 1 to emphasize disruptions can occur anytime.
