Singapore mother raises second son with spinal muscular atrophy after losing her first to the disease

A Singapore mother is raising her second son with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) after her first son died from the same rare genetic disease. Norhaziqah Rosli's second son, Faziq, was diagnosed with SMA during pregnancy. Her first son, Faris, passed away in 2022 at age six from SMA complications. Faziq is receiving early treatment with medication, which has helped him reach developmental milestones, unlike his late brother who had no affordable treatment options.
