Singapore green jet fuel levy starts Jan 2027 for tickets bought from Oct 2026

Singapore will impose a green jet fuel levy on flights departing the country from Jan 1, 2027, for tickets purchased on or after Oct 1, 2026. The levy applies to passenger flights, while air cargo shipments will see a one-year deferment. The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore delayed the cargo levy to Oct 1, 2027, citing the industry's complexity and need for a robust collection mechanism. Passenger levies range from $1 to $10.40 for economy class and $4 to $41.60 for business or first class, based on destination. The levy, originally planned for October 2026, was postponed due to the global energy crisis from the Middle East war.
