Siddaramaiah orders crackdown on fake news, black marketing
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered a crackdown on those spreading fake news and engaging in black marketing amid heightened tensions following a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. Siddaramaiah directed officials to monitor both traditional and digital media, conduct regular fact-checking, and issue official clarifications to counter misinformation. He also emphasized the need for increased surveillance and legal action against those disrupting harmony. The Chief Minister also ordered mock drills, tightened security at key locations, and cautioned against economic exploitation. Deputy CM DK Shivakumar cancelled his birthday celebrations, urging respect for the national security situation.
