Shinobu Sakagami returns to news commentary with new TV segment

Actor Shinobu Sakagami, 59, will join a new segment on Kantele/Fuji TV's news program "Shunkan LIVE Toretate!" starting September 7, marking his first appearance on a news show since "Viking MORE" ended in 2022. The segment, "Hisonyo Muyo! Sakagami・Tetsuo no NEWS Ittou Dandan," features Sakagami and journalist Tetsuo Suzuki, 68, discussing current topics like the Fukuoka prefectural assembly chairman's resignation and Prime Minister Takaichi's consumption tax proposal, set in a traditional Chinese restaurant in Tokyo's Itabashi ward. Sakagami initially said he had no plans to return to such formats, but agreed after Suzuki invited him and producers allowed a casual setting with beer and snacks. He also cited respect for MC Genta Aoki's commitment to the show as a deciding factor.
