Sharon Stone discovers royal lineage on PBS show Finding Your Roots

Sharon Stone recently discovered her royal heritage on PBS's Finding Your Roots. The actress learned she is a direct descendant of Charlemagne, the first Holy Roman Emperor, which left her visibly shocked and speechless. In addition to Charlemagne, Stone is also related to Hugh Capet, a 10th-century French ruler. Capet helped establish Paris as a power center and was a successor to Charlemagne. Stone's family history includes her third great-grandfather, who emigrated to Pennsylvania in the 19th century. He served as a coal miner and fought for the Union Army during the American Civil War, which moved Stone to tears.
