Sharnelle Vella leaves Channel Seven for ABC Radio's Melbourne breakfast show

Sharnelle Vella, a prominent political reporter at Channel Seven, is leaving the network to join ABC Radio's Melbourne breakfast show. She has given her current employer a few weeks to find her replacement before her departure at the end of the month. Vella's move follows her recent success on Seven's investigative program, Spotlight. She will co-host the breakfast show with former Western Bulldogs captain Bob Murphy, replacing outgoing host Sammy J, who announced his departure after five years. Channel Seven is now looking to recruit young sports reporter Xander McGuire to fill the gap left by Vella. McGuire, who has impressed at Nine, is being considered for a dual role in news and sports at Seven.
