Shared storytelling reveals new sides of UK children's imagination

Two-thirds of UK parents (66%) discovered previously unknown sides of their children's imagination through shared storytelling, according to new research by Kinder Chocolate. The Imagination Index polled 2,000 UK parents of children aged 3-9. Co-created stories aided vocabulary, listening, confidence, and compassion. Preferences shifted by age: under-5s favored animal tales, 6-7-year-olds fantasy and adventure, and 8-9-year-olds mysteries and self-written narratives. Most parents (96%) said shared storytelling strengthens their bond, and 41% said it helps children express hidden feelings. Psychologist Dr Elizabeth Kilbey highlighted digital tools like Let's Story for facilitating such interaction.
