Shanghai's Maglev train travels fast using magnetic levitation

Shanghai operates a magnetic levitation (Maglev) train, which began service in 2002. It utilizes magnetic force, eliminating track contact, allowing speeds up to 300 km/h, and previously reaching 431 km/h commercially. The Maglev train connects Pudong International Airport to Longyang Road station. The train operates on a dedicated magnetic track, and the service runs every 20 minutes from 6:45 AM to 9:42 PM. Maglev technology is also in use in South Korea and Japan. The high cost of implementing the technology has limited Maglev service to a single route in Shanghai.
