Severe weather forecast as Oklahoma assesses tornado damage and injuries

Severe weather is expected to continue in the Southern Plains on Monday as Oklahoma assesses damage from tornado-spawning storms that injured at least 11 people over the weekend. More thunderstorms are forecast for northern Texas, western Arkansas, and most of Oklahoma. The storms caused significant destruction, with at least five tornadoes reported in Oklahoma, including two EF-3 tornadoes. Nearly 40 structures were destroyed, and over 16,000 customers in Oklahoma and Texas remain without power. Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has declared an emergency in six counties. Officials are working to ensure polling stations have power ahead of the presidential election on Tuesday. Flood watches are in effect for over 7 million people across the region.
