Seven deputies identified in fatal shooting of man in Spring Valley, California
Seven sheriff’s deputies have been identified in the fatal shooting of Victor Rendon Jr., 34, in Spring Valley, California. The incident occurred on November 15 when deputies responded to a call about an armed man trespassing at his ex-girlfriend's home. Rendon allegedly pointed a gun at deputies after they arrived. He fired at least two rounds before retreating inside the house, where he continued to act erratically. The deputies shot him when he emerged and aimed a semi-automatic handgun at them. The San Diego police are investigating the shooting, following a protocol that prevents local departments from investigating their own officers. The findings will be reviewed by the county district attorney’s office, while the sheriff’s office will conduct its own administrative investigation.
