Seven aides of Amritpal Singh granted four-day remand
An Ajnala court has granted a four-day police remand for seven aides of Amritpal Singh. Singh is the jailed leader of the Waris Punjab De group and a current MP. The remand is linked to an attack on the Ajnala police station in 2023. The seven individuals include Daljit Singh Kalsi, Bhagwant Singh, Kulwant Singh, Harjeet Singh, Gurinder Pal Singh, Gurmeet Singh, and Basant Singh. They were taken to court with strong security measures in place. Police had requested a seven-day remand to help with their investigation. They aim to recover mobile devices, check for possible illegal weapons, and identify more people connected to the case. Just recently, the seven were released from Dibrugarh Central Jail after their time under the National Security Act (NSA) ended. After their release, the Punjab Police re-arrested them. A Dibrugarh court allowed them to be taken back to Punjab for further questioning. They arrived in Punjab late Thursday and are currently being held in a secret location.
