Semaglutide drugs like Ozempic significantly lower heart attack risk

Ozempic and similar drugs may significantly reduce the risk of heart attack and other serious cardiac events. A study published in The Lancet found semaglutide, the active ingredient in Ozempic, may prevent heart attacks and severe cardiac events, independent of weight loss. The research evaluated over 17,000 individuals and suggests benefits may be linked to reduced abdominal fat, though two-thirds of the effect remains unexplained.
