Second Night of Urban Violence in Tours: Youths Set Fires, Police Arrest Four
Groups of youths, totaling around 150, returned to Tours city center on Saturday, October 3, 2026, for a second consecutive night of urban violence, burning bikes and trash bins. The unrest began around 8:30 p.m. at Place Jean-Jaurès, with at least ten Pony bikes and six bins set alight. Highly mobile groups moved toward the train station and Sanitas district, causing limited damage but interrupting bus and tram traffic. Police made three arrests initially. Four people were ultimately arrested for participating in an armed gathering or one intended to commit violence, including three minors aged 15-17 and an 18-year-old. Reinforcements from CRS 8 arrived, with no officers injured. The violence reportedly stemmed from a social media call to loot the city center.
