Screenwriter sues Netflix claiming 'Rez Ball' copied his script on Native American basketball players

A screenwriter, Rob Grabow, has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Netflix over the film "Rez Ball." He claims the film, which was already completed when he shared his script "The Gift of Game," has significant similarities. "Rez Ball," released in September 2023, tells the story of Native American high school basketball players. Grabow's script, registered in January 2024, also focuses on a mixed-race team with a Native American star. Grabow alleges he shared his script with people connected to "Rez Ball" after its filming wrapped in May 2023. His attorney argues that changes could have been made during post-production, potentially leading to infringement. Netflix has not commented on the lawsuit.
