School owner, 70, dies in Cavite school fire

A 70-year-old woman died Wednesday night after a fire of unknown origin gutted a private school in Dasmariñas City, Cavite. The victim was the school owner residing at Brentwood Academy of Dasmariñas Inc. The fire broke out around 8:32 p.m. from one of the school’s classrooms, according to initial investigation. Authorities controlled the blaze by 9:13 p.m., and firefighters recovered the victim’s charred body in the administration office during clearing operations about 30 minutes later. The Calabarzon police reported the incident Thursday, and investigators are still determining the fire’s cause. The victim lived on the school premises in Barangay Sta Cruz 1.
