Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) stated that Stepan Kaplunov, deputy commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps, confessed to working with Russia's FSB and plotting a terrorist attack. The SBU said it acted preemptively to prevent a murder ordered by the FSB, planned for Ukraine's Independence Day. Kaplunov allegedly received tasks to eliminate a Russian opposition leader and other Ukrainian military personnel for money. During counterintelligence measures, Kaplunov admitted his FSB contacts and provided information, allowing the SBU to identify the full chain of individuals involved in the planned crime.
