SBU general demands answers on HUR shootout in Kyiv

Retired SBU Major General Viktor Yagun discussed the shooting between Ukraine's military intelligence (HUR) and the Security Service (SBU) in Kyiv, questioning the legality of the HUR unit's actions. He emphasized the need to investigate who issued the criminal orders. The conflict reportedly stems from the disappearance of Stepan Kaplunov, a deputy commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps, a HUR unit. The SBU stated its officers were attacked while conducting pre-trial investigation into an FSB-organized terrorist act, resulting in wounded military intelligence officers. Yagun highlighted that the SBU is a law enforcement body, unlike the HUR special forces unit "Timur," which was deployed in full combat gear in peacetime Kyiv. He questioned what combat mission justified their presence and demanded accountability for the orders given.
