SBU Accused of Planting Evidence in RDK Deputy Commander's Home

Stepan Kaplunov, deputy commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps, accused the Security Service of Ukraine of kidnapping him on August 23 to pressure him and discredit other officials, alleging SBU officers tried to plant unknown substances in his home. Kaplunov claimed acting SBU head Oleksandr Poklad interrogated him for the first three days and that video evidence shows SBU officers attempting to enter his residence with large sports bags. The RDK has filed a complaint with the State Bureau of Investigation. The SBU previously alleged Kaplunov had contacts with Russia's FSB and was plotting an assassination, releasing a confession video. Kaplunov said he agreed under psychological pressure. The incident follows a September 1 shootout in Kyiv involving SBU Alpha forces, which President Zelensky called "absolutely disgraceful."
