Saudi Arabia reports deaths in Houthi airport attacks; Pakistan sends troops to Riyadh
Saudi Arabia announced the deaths of three citizens, including a pilot, in Houthi attacks on Riyadh airport, as hostilities between the Iran-backed Yemeni fighters and the kingdom intensify following a September Houthi offensive that seized Red Sea coast territory. The civil aviation authority reported two attacks targeting airport structures and a Saudia aircraft, with several people of various nationalities wounded. Six people have been killed in recent days in Houthi strikes on Saudi airports, while Saudi forces intercepted three ballistic missiles, according to coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki. Pakistan has deployed significant military forces to Riyadh, and Italy confirmed 500 troops in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Washington and Riyadh are pressuring Syria to contribute forces to the Yemen conflict, though doubts remain about Damascus's military capacity amid ongoing reorganization and equipment shortages.
