Saskatchewan now covers cystic fibrosis drug Alyftrek

Saskatchewan began covering Alyftrek on Aug. 1 for eligible cystic fibrosis patients aged six and older, expanding access to a treatment that can improve quality of life. The province said more than 95% of Saskatchewan's nearly 150 CF patients are candidates for Alyftrek, which targets 266 rare mutations. It joins Trikafta, Orkambi and Kalydeco as covered therapies. Cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease damaging lungs and digestion, has no cure. Advocate Devina Griffith, whose daughter needed Alyftrek, pushed for coverage through letters and the 2026 Saskatoon CF Walk.
