Sarah Bock balances acting and studies at Northwestern
Sarah Bock plays Miss Huang in the Apple TV+ show "Severance" while also being a freshman at Northwestern University. In the series, she portrays a serious child employee at Lumon Industries, but outside of work, she is social, studying theater, and engaging in campus life. Bock recently gained attention for her role in "Severance," which examines how a medical procedure separates work and personal lives. She shared that being recognized by fans has been surprising and a bit overwhelming. Bock works hard to stay on top of her studies while navigating her acting career, especially when she needs to travel for filming or promotions. She decided to attend Northwestern based on advice from her co-star Britt Lower, who is also an alum. Bock is passionate about psychology and believes it will help her as an actress. She has performed in several school productions and has a background in musical theater, which she loves. To land the role of Miss Huang, Bock first submitted a self-taped audition. After receiving a callback, she met with the show's director and producer, Ben Stiller. She prepared for her character by studying the show's tone and relevant music, which helped her embody Miss Huang’s serious demeanor. Bock enjoys the creative aspect of filming, especially collaborating with her co-star Tramell Tillman, who plays Mr. Milchick. They have fun creating character-driven videos for Lumon’s social media, even if it sometimes leads to laughter during serious scenes. While Bock appreciates the support from fans, she avoids reading fan theories online. She finds it entertaining to see edits of her character on social media. Recently, she expressed excitement about the upcoming season finale, stating that it left her eager to learn what happens next in the story.
