Santander names ex-UBS CEO Daniel Bassan to lead Brazil wholesale and investment banking

Santander Brasil announced Daniel Bassan, former UBS CEO for Brazil and Latin America, as vice president of its wholesale and investment banking arm, effective early 2027. Bassan will report to Santander Brasil president Gilson Finkelsztain and join the executive committee. Globally, he will report to José Maria Linares, head of the Santander Corporate & Investment Banking division. The unit serves large companies with capital markets, structured finance, treasury, and advisory services. Bassan brings over 30 years of finance experience, including leadership roles at Credit Suisse and BTG Pactual. Until he starts, Rafael Kappaz remains head of SCIB in Brazil.
