Santana Minerals buys Central Otago station land for gold mine

Australian mining company Santana Minerals has bought nearly nine square kilometers of Bendigo Station for $55 million, a key step for its proposed gold mine. The purchase, subject to regulatory approval, includes land for open pits, waste dumps, and infrastructure, aiming for significant regional economic benefits. Bendigo Station, formerly home to Shrek the sheep, is a famed Central Otago property, and the sale replaces a previous royalty agreement.
