Samsung introduces the 990 SSD, a new entry-level model. It is approximately twice as fast as its predecessor, the 980, but uses QLC memory. The 990 upgrades to a PCIe 4.0 controller, doubling speeds. However, it switches from TLC to QLC NAND flash, which may impact large file write performance. The new SSD will be available in 1TB and 2TB capacities, with variants under 1TB being discontinued.
