Samsung launches budget 5G smartphone in India to regain market share
Samsung has launched its first 5G smartphone priced under Rs 10,000 in India, aiming to regain market share lost to Chinese competitors. The new F06 model is priced at Rs 9,499, targeting first-time buyers and those upgrading from older phones. This move comes as Samsung's market share fell to 13.2% in 2024, down from 17% in 2023. The sub-Rs 10,000 segment is crucial, accounting for nearly a quarter of India's smartphone market, but dominated by brands like Xiaomi and Realme. Analysts suggest that while Samsung's entry into this budget segment could increase its market share by 3-5%, it faces challenges from competitors offering better options. The segment has seen a decline in shipments, and success may depend on pricing strategies and product features.
