Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 review: a bold but flawed foldable

Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8, a new squat, passport-shaped foldable, opens into an iPad-like tablet, but its unusual closed design compromises phone usability. Priced from £1,699, it launches alongside the more traditional Fold 8 Ultra. The device features a 7.6-inch OLED tablet screen with a 4:3 ratio, ideal for video and multitasking, powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip with 40-hour battery life. However, its wide closed form hinders one-handed use, and the keyboard consumes much of the cover display. The Fold 8 lacks a telephoto camera, offering only two 50MP rear lenses, and its soft screen is fragile. Despite excellent software and performance, the review concludes the unconventional shape makes it a worse phone experience than book-style rivals.
